Augmented Reality (extended reality) can show hidden processes and structures using an attractive and creative demonstration.
Technically speaking, the following happens: a camera (connected to a computer) scans an object and reacts to a coded picture. This picture triggers a 3D-animation, which combines the videographed picture with the animation in real time. An artificially produced scene which merges reality with an animation appears on the screen.
These animations are interactive, so that by turning the object, different viewpoints or interactions can be depicted.
Examples:
- For a manufacturer of functional clothing: a hang-tag is coded and shows a 3D-animated display of the functionality – directly on the product itself.
- For a manufacturer of do-it-yourself furniture: The assembly instructions of the furniture piece are coded, activating an animation which shows the viewer the assembly sequence in what sequence the product should be assembled.
- A company introduces a new visual: the new visual could be a part of the corporate brochure, initiating an animation which presents the idea and concept of the visual. All customers can therefore easily recognise the significance of the visual for the company.
- Black Box: one cannot see the way many products work because they are invisible to the user. A coded bodywork can make these processes visible via an attractive animation.
We generally use augmented reality for spectacular product demonstrations at trade fairs or exhibitions - with huge success.
